Nerding period coming very soon!

I'm sad to say this, but my life is gonna get a lot more busier from now on... with final exams coming up, I reli dun have the mood to blog a lot anymore... Studies, studies and studies will define my whole month of May 2011 as my MUFY life comes to a close soon... One more reason is that I have no internet access at my hostel at all, screw Sunway Casa Management with their MUCH delayed repair of this internet thingy... I have gave up hope on it dy... so with less time on the internet, don't think I'll blog oso... Sometimes just to get internet, I have to borrow my friend, Vignaa's broadband, thanks a lot to him... I dun like life like this, but it's inevitable... I will patiently await for 25th May 2011, when all stress and nerdiness will be thrown out of the window! =)

Destination #5 - KLCC

Hey guys, sry for the delayed posting of this... this is due to my lack of access to internet at hostel and not having the mood to blog in college oso... hehe... anyway, i'll keep this simple...

My 5th and final destination in my semester break is KLCC! So what happened was that day (Sunday) was also the Palm Sunday mass in my church, a mass that I must not miss... what was supposed to be a noon trip became a mid-afternoon trip as I only reached there around 3pm... Anyway, after reaching there and having some immense difficulty to find my friends (Kuen Luen, Eric and KL's fren), we went to this PC Fair... that day happens to be the last day of PC Fair and the place was like CRAZY! Swarms and swarms of ppl non-stop... Lots of hot showgirls on display oso, haha... anyway, i bought a RM59 speaker for my laptop, dunno what stroke me at that moment, regret it a bit after that...

After that, KLCC wasn't much oso... just some tall buildings all around and the mall is typically big... we had dinner at Chili's which was damn expensive... I wasted almost RM40 for one single meal for dinner, ouch!

So that marks the end of my semester break... I have to admit, that week of semester break is the best moment I've enjoyed in my MUFY life... it's clearly in a different category than all other moments where only studies and nerds r involved in my life... anyway, I clearly enjoyed it and will cherish it in my heart for a very long time... =)

Destination #4 - Kajang

Friday I went to Kajang to visit my buddy, Vignaa... this time there wasn't any overnight, just a day trip due to Vignaa's holiday schedule being so packed... haha... However, a day trip is equally as interesting as the other previous trips... =)

I reached Vignaa's house around 1.30pm... his mum then treated her great hospitality to me by cooking for me... it was very nice and reli thank you to Vignaa and his mum for their kindness! Above is Vignaa's mum's special dish, spiced chicken... xP

after lunch, we went to Kajang town... it was Friday afternoon and the town was full of people...

I went to this shop to get a haircut... Sry but I'm not gonna post my new hairstyle here, u have to see me to see it... haha...

after the haircut, the one thing that I have to do is eat the most famous satay kajang! What makes it better than the rest is its kuah/sauce, and the satay itself is very tasty too...

my first experience of eating fish satay! It tastes like ikan bakar, and it was nice too... hehe...

the one day trip at Kajang was quite productive actually... ate Vignaa's mum's homecook food, got a new hairstyle and ate satay kajang... ^^

Destination #3 - Cheras

After Muar, I did go back to Sunway for a short rest before continuing to embark on my journey... on weds noon, I set out with Cheery, my former schoolmate and current MUFY coursemate, to Cheras... This is the place where we just had to go on Wednesday, because the pasar malam there will only be opened on Wednesdays... I stayed over at my friend, Lawrence's hostel, and of cuz, we visited his current university, UCSI...

(from left: Cheery, Chieng Han, Mei Ming)
taking picture in front of UCSI's best toilet... LOL!

UCSI University South Wing... to be honest, the university's exterior view is so much more appealing than its interior view... seriously... (no offence, Lawrence, haha!)

For lunch, we had Sibu kampua in Cheras! The taste was very similar to Sibu's original kampua as the tauke there is a Sibu-lan himself... just that u can see minced meat at the top of the kampua which shouldn't be there and the price is so much more expensive (typical KL price)... however, it was enjoyable as I haven't had kampua for two months already... XD

We went to pasar malam in the evening... this is actually Malaysia's longest pasar malam... it is a straight long long path, unlike some other pasar malams which goes in a circle such as in SS2...

this is 臭豆腐, recommended by Lawrence... sry Lawrence, but I reli hated the taste as well as the smell... Haha...

Cheery holding her and my 可丽饼... ingredients include some veges and eggs, and u choose the main ingredient urself... we chose ham and after eating this, we all started feeling full...

This has to be my favourite food in pasar malam... 中国汉堡包... super nice! =D

refreshment after food hunting in pasar malam, haha... they put mango ice-cream, nuts, pearls and most importantly, fresh mango slices... very refreshing indeed!

me with Lawrence, the guy who guided us through his university as well as pasar malam... Thank you very much! And sry for bothering u although ur gonna have trials next week... =)

One more thing abt this visit to Cheras is that I get to meet Mei Ming, a fren who I've not met for a very long time... it was great to see her again, haha... I hope after MUFY, I can ask my frens to visit Cheras pasar malam together...

Destination #2 - Muar

After visiting Malacca, I didn't went back to sunway and went straight down to Muar with my fren, Shi Hao... of cuz I stayed at his house during this 1 day 1 night trip... =)

For dinner, we went to a place like a food court which sells lots of food... the best and most delicious food in Muar has to be the originally made otak-otak! I can assure u that, this is the best food I've had in my trip so far, and there's no better place to eat it other than Muar, haha... it's not just delicious, it's cheap also, 50 cents for one only... Super nice!!

this is 炸五香, where they fried 5 types of food and serve it in a plate... to be honest, I've never heard of it before... it tastes nice oso...

above is 八宝冰 and 六味汤... I had the second one for refreshments after all those food for dinner... :)

After dinner, we went to a place near the river in Muar... locals call the place 'Tanjung'... this is the place where normally couples, both young and old, like to come and spend their time together... it's dark and quiet, so I guess this is the perfect place for them, haha... due to us going on a weekday, u can't reli see many couples in the picture... weekends would be much different...

For supper, we went to a Malay shop for Muar's specialty, ikan bakar... u get to choose fresh fish and other seafood for them to cook for u the way u want... so we chose one piece of fish for ikan bakar (illustrated above) and some sotongs for them to fry... the fish was very fresh and tasted very nice... total only RM10... haha...

Shi Hao with his gf, both who accompanied me and kept treating me without my consent... THANK YOU! ^^

The next morning, we went to a place called 贪食街 where they sell many food again... so here we ate pork satay, which was very delicious oso... u dun get to eat pork satay everyday, do you? =D

And of cuz, before I left Muar, the food that I just need to eat again has to be more otak-otaks... haha... Muar trip is all about food I guess, and although the time was short, I enjoyed it a lot... Muar feels a lot like Sibu, my hometown... the people, the food, the buildings... gonna miss the otak-otaks the most xP

Destination #1 - Malacca

My first destination in this one week vacation, Malacca! Seen a lot of historical places and ate a lot of super delicious food there... Thanks a lot to Matthew Lee for being the driver and tour guide, Shi Hao for being the company, and Athena Ng for planning the whole thing... haha... Let's get to all the pictures, shall we? =)

This is the much awaited chicken rice ball of Malacca! We had this for lunch on the first day, right after I reached Malacca... Hmm, to be honest with u, there wasn't anything special with its taste, just normal chicken rice shaped into a ball, a bit disappointed considering the high expectations I had for it... however, I guess what attracts ppl the most is the texture, haha... so, yeah! U shud try this out because it's too famous dy... The shop I went was Huang Chang, though Chung Wah and Hoe Kee are more famous places for eating this... haha...

Above r two cendols! First one is durian cendol, second one normal cendol... After lunch, we went to a shop called Jeta Groves for them... This has to be my favourite food in whole of Malacca! I dunno how to explain, but it's just so nice... u all must try the durian cendol, it's criminal not to try it if u go malacca... ^^ Jonker88, a shop in Jonker Street is more famous for this, however my fren said it's overrated and eating it at Jeta Groves is much more delicious... ;)

For dinner, we had satay celup... I always had an impression that satay celup is using the normal satay that u eat and dipping it into the kuah... Now I know that's not the case... They use all kinds of food as satay, lol... and it's not that expensive oso... every stick costs 60 cents at the shop we went, Ban Lee Siang... it was nice oso... Another shop, Capitol is oso famous for this, but it's more expensive and u need to line up very long for it...

After dinner, we went to Jonker Walk which only opens on fridays, saturdays and sundays nights... a lot of shops and ppl, which make it feels like pasar malam, just different in a way... LOL...

This is gula ketuk, which I have never seen or ate before in my life... we came across this shop at Jonker... it even has 阿贤人情味 to advertise for it, so we bought it, hahaha... dun look down on the size of the packet, because u can't finish it in a short instant!

The next morning, we went to a shop called Tan Kim Hock selling all types of locally made food from all over Malaysia... the most unique of cuz is dodol, a local Malacca kuih priduct... I bought 4 packets of it, but haven't try it yet, so I can't comment on it yet... haha...

Then, it's all about historical sites... we visited Satdhuys first, which I'm sure u all heard of before... The admission ticket was RM5 per person, but if ur smart enuf, there's actually a path at the back that leads into the muzium without needing to pay for it, hahaha... but too bad we didn't know... >.<

This is St Paul's Church, the oldest Catholic church in Malaysia, built by the Portuguese... it is 490 years old! This is damn old, u can be sure of that...

Christ Church, Melaka... the oldest Protestan church in Malaysia... I heard it's Anglican...

This is Porta Santiago, almost as old as the St Paul's church above...

After all that walking and visiting, we went to Mahkota Parade, a shopping mall in Malacca to take our lunch... We went to this shop called Sibaraku and ate buffet lunch there... the service was nice and the food was not bad oso... RM20 per person... We even made our own ABC at the end of our meal... they provide us with ice making machine, milk, gula melaka and all other materials, and u get to create ur own ABC in any ways u like... haha... Yummy!

All in all, this trip to Malacca is the best ever... had a lot of great food and visited many historical places which I have never been to in my life... I hope one day in future, I can go back there again and maybe try out stuffs I missed such as pork satay and pineapple tarts and go places such as the Waterworld and Wonderland... =)

A getaway from stress and emoness!

FINALLY!! A much deserved getaway has arrived! Starting from today till next sunday is MUFY semester break... After two stressful months full of assignments and assessments, we Mufy-ians are finally getting something called 'rest' or 'fun', haha... I have to say I'm super relieved that holiday has arrived, just the right time for my weary soul to get some rest and enjoyment... I'm describing the break as a getaway because after the break, everything will return to normal as final exams will be one month away only, but that doesn't matter now, my mind is fully focused on my Holiday only... xP

For most Mufy-ians, this sem break is used for going back to respective homes and spending time with family... some 'super hardworking' ppl will even use their holiday to study (omg!)... Me? Completely different! Haha... I'm not going home during this one-week break... I have planned my semester break as a vacation week as I'm gonna travel to a few places in west malaysia which I have never been to... Why I dun wanna go back home? Hmmm, main reason is cuz I wanna make my college life a memorable one by travelling around, not a miserable one with only studies and studies... another reason is cuz all my buddies r still in west malaysia, so going back makes no point at all other than family... anyway, stay tuned for my next few posts, i will surely share my vacation week experience with u all... =)
